B.Sc. (Hons) Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology
On this page
Overview
An Aneasthesia and operation theatre (AOT) technologist forms an intrinsic part of any hospital. The student is trained to be a part of a multidisciplinary team in operation theatres who prepare and maintain an operating theatre. They will be able to efficiently assist the Aneasthesia and surgical procedures. The course provides knowledge of various surgical branches and specialties and several aspects of anesthesia. The program prepares the students to integrate knowledge, skills, and attitude to be able to perform a professional act adequately in a given situation.
Objective
- Focuses on performance-based outcomes pertaining to operation theatre technology.
- Helps students learn to integrate their knowledge, skills, and abilities in a hands-on manner in a professional healthcare setting.
Highlights
Proctoral System
Under the Proctoral System, every student is assigned a faculty member as a Proctor or a mentor.
These mentors offer guidance, support, and encouragement to students, helping them as they progress along their academic journey. From the choice of electives to their academic performance, from attendance to meeting their credit requirements, students can approach these mentors with any and every query.
Proctors also interact with parents/guardians and keep them updated on the progress of students.
To ensure that they reap the benefits of the Proctoral System, students are advised to be in regular contact with their Proctors.
Innovation Centre
At the Innovation Centre, students team up with faculty members to bring their innovative ideas to life.
Ideas are assessed based on their relevance to and impact on society. These are then translated into working projects that are entered in national and international competitions, and for registration as patents.
Hospital Posting
As part of the curriculum, students are posted to relevant departments of the hospital and gain exposure to the actual working of the department at the organisation. Students, in return, need to prepare a report of their observations and recommendations, preparing them for joining the hospital as soon as they graduate.
Partner Facilities
The Ramaiah Group was established in 1962 with a teaching hospital for medical students that was founded in 1985, and a Memorial Hospital in 2014. These hospitals cater to various income levels with a wide range of specialties. Students from AHS get hands-on training and home their skills under supervision at state of art multispecialty hospitals.
